Yeast Dough Pizza with Boiled Sausage and Pickled Cucumbers

I make this yeast dough pizza with boiled sausage and pickled cucumbers every time I want a simple, tasty homemade pizza from affordable ingredients. It is a classic combination – soft yeast dough, ketchup with mayonnaise, boiled eggs, sausage, crunchy pickles and melted cheese.

Instructions

  1. Prepare the filling. Dice the sausage into cubes of about 0.5 cm. Grate the cheese on a fine grater gradually, as you make each pizza. Grate the boiled eggs on a fine grater or cut them into cubes. Slice the cucumbers into thin rounds.

    Step 1
  2. Sprinkle the table with flour and place the dough on it. Divide it into three equal parts – each one makes one large pizza. Roll out the first part to the shape of the baking sheet.

    Step 2
  3. Make the sauce: mix ketchup and mayonnaise in equal proportions. You can add tomato paste or a homemade sauce. Spread the sauce evenly over the whole base. If you like it spicy, you can sprinkle on some finely chopped garlic or onion.

    Step 3
  4. As the first layer, spread the grated eggs – about two eggs go on one pizza.

    Step 4
  5. Over the eggs, spread the diced sausage evenly and arrange the pickled cucumber rounds to taste. Generously sprinkle grated cheese on top.

    Step 5
  6. Put the baking sheet into an oven preheated to 180–200°C. Bake for 15–25 minutes until golden brown and the cheese has melted.

    Step 6
  7. Take the pizza out of the oven, move it onto a wooden board and cover it with a towel for 20–30 minutes. Then cut it and serve. While the first pizza rests, roll out and prepare the second one.

Tips

  • 1

Roll the dough out thinly – a thick base will not bake evenly and will stay raw in the middle.

  • 2

Blot the pickled cucumbers with a paper towel before laying them out – excess moisture will make the dough soggy.

  • 3

Grate the cheese right before baking each pizza – that way it will not dry out.

  • 4

Let the pizza rest under a towel – it will become softer and juicier.

FAQ

Can I use shop-bought dough? +

Yes, shop-bought yeast dough works well. Let it rise a little after thawing.

What can replace boiled sausage? +

Ham, smoked chicken, frankfurters or bacon will all work. The taste will be slightly different, but no less delicious.

Why is the dough raw in the middle? +

Most likely it was rolled out too thick or loaded with too much filling. Roll it thinner and do not overload the pizza.

Can I freeze the finished pizza? +

Yes, cut the cooled pizza into pieces and freeze them. Reheat in the oven at 180°C for 10–15 minutes.

Do I need to grease the baking sheet? +

Yes, lightly grease it with oil or line it with parchment so the pizza comes off easily.
